International Studies Learning Center (ISLC) is a "span school", meaning a combined junior and senior high school covering grades 6–12, in the Los Angeles Unified School District. It is a small learning community of approximately 700 students, focusing on world cultures and languages. Its vision is to inspire and prepare global citizens. A WASC accredited school,[1] ISLC is part of the Asia Society International Studies Schools Network.[2] It is also partnered with Foundation for California Community Colleges, Los Angeles Southwest College, and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.[3]

ISLC's middle school community is currently housed in Southeast Middle School in South Gate, California. Its high school community occupies the Continuation School in the South East complex and uses facilities within Southeast High School.

History

ISLC is currently located in the South East Complex completed in October 2005 on a 57.45-acre (232,500 m2) plot of land on the site of the old General Motors plant in South Gate, California. It is on one of the largest lots of any school complex in the LAUSD.
